The technique used to create the fabric for these bags and pouches has been passed down through generations of crafters in San Antonio and Tontonicapan and is unique to this area.
Created using a floor loom, these fabrics are made by adult villagers, though local children are often nearby, watching intently and learning the technique. Once the fabric has been created, it is sent to the town of Panajachel where it is cut and sewn into fabulous bags by a small group of tailors.
